| Florian Schmitt is a German biologist (M.Sc./Dipl.) and Ph.D. candidate at Ulm University in Germany. Mr. Schmitt works for The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). He also works as a freelance scientist at the Tirimbina Rainforest Center in Costa Rica. Mr. Schmitt has conducted research in Australia, Panama, Germany, Norway, Canada, France, and Austria. He has published four papers (coauthorship included) in international scientific journals and is fluent in four languages.

Karla Barquero, Staff Scientist - Mrs. Barquero is currently
pursuing a masters degree in Biology from the University of Costa Rica.
Mrs. Barquero is fluent in English, Spanish, and German. She has
extensive experience in both environmental education and environmental
research. She is currently employed by Chiquita Nature and Community
Foundation as a wildlife and forestry technician, and has previously served as the
Educational Director at Tirimbina Biological Reserve for several years.
Her research has focused on bat behavior and communication and she has been interviewed on
The Discovery Channel, and has appeared on several national television documentaries.

| Dr. Belinda Burwell is a local veterinarian and president of The Blue Ridge Wildlife Center. Dr. Burwell has a B.S. in Zoology from Duke University and a D.V.M. from Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine. She has research experience in pharmacology and epidemiology and has four papers published in scientific journals. She is a Certified Virginia Master Naturalist, and has a permit from the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries to rescue and rehabilitate wildlife.

| Chris Packert holds two masters degrees in science education and instructional technology. He received a masters degree in Secondary Education with concentrations in biology and earth science from West Virginia University, and has recently completed a second masters degree in Instructional Technology from George Mason University. Mr. Packert has been a scientific content writer for NASA, developed ecological field research courses for West Virginia University, and has ten years teaching experience in secondary earth science, biology, and chemistry.
